Swartz Hall Renovations - Bucknell University

Renovation of Swartz Hall occurred the summer of 2007.  Swartz Hall is an upper class student dormitory located between the Bertrand Library and McDonnell Hall. Renovation of Swartz Hall completed Bucknell University’s updates and renovations to all on-campus buildings over the past two decades. The renovation included a 3 million dollar HVAC replacement that was completed in less than 3 months. The renovation included a new mechanical room, new make-up air/energy recover units, as well as new fan coil units for each student room. The mechanical room was located in the basement of the east side of the building; the underground chilled water utilities where extended from outside the Bertrand Library to the mechanical room during the 2007 spring semester. The energy recover units were located in the attic space of each building and were required to be shipped in pieces for installation and final field assembly. Silvertip also completed the plumbing renovations to each floor adding new sanitry and vent mains as well as showers and fixtures. Due to the demands of the project Silvertip worked two-shifts as well as weekends and holidays. The success of the project is highly attributed to the dedication of the field personnel and the coordination of all the contractors.
